SRMBOK - Security Risk Management Body Of Knowledge
Human civilisation is experiencing a transition like no other in history where technology is facilitating the globalisation of markets, culture, organisations and strategic threats. Security risk management has become an essential business tool in the management of risk to meet the challenges that have manifest themselves through this transition. Designing into organisations resilience and continuity demands a more sophisticated and strategic approach to security risk management.

The organisations that effectively manage their security are able to design resilience and continuity into their competitive advantage through the effective protection of people, physical infrastructure and information (knowledge, processes, IP and systems).

Boards now want to be assured that their key business assets of people, information and physical infrastructure are not being protected but that security risk management contributes to their competitive advantage.

The development innovative and standard methodologies as well as the integration of security risk management into enterprise wide risk management will result in increased professionalism that provides significant benefits to the insurance industry and the broader community.

The Security Risk Management Body of Knowledge will help both specialist security and generalist practitioners in the management of risk to answer these following questions:
What does it take to create a secure environment?
  • How should I determine the risks facing my organisation?
  • What should I do first?
  • How do I implement an effective framework for governance?
  • What do stakeholders want to see by way of results?
  • What does a robust security risk management system look like?
  • What is considered industry best practice?

The SRMBOK is intended to become a pivotal reference document which brings together a range of security domains, methodologies and disciplines to provide a single source toolkit and reference ‘bible’ for consultants, managers, students and practitioners alike. It will address all aspects of security risk management and related fields with a particular focus on risk management systems and methodologies.

The intent is to document highlights and key features of the full body of knowledge concerning security risk management which resides and evolves within the collective practices and knowledge of practitioners.

SRMBOK now available.
