RMIA committees and councils include:

  • Professional Standards Committee
  • Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Education & Professional Development Council.

Work Groups
RMIA is calling for expressions of interest from its Members to join Working Groups for the purposes of furthering RMIA’s key objective of providing market leading education and professional development pathways and courses in risk management to its Members and the community

RMIA has established an Education & Professional Development Council, the purpose of which is to act as a body of risk management experts who are able to provide the RMIA with broad risk management knowledge and independent advice to enhance RMIA’s education and professional development products and services, including the accreditation of practicing risk managers.

The Council will also provide an essential forum for risk management discussion and debate amongst RMIA members on a confidential basis.

This initiative underpins RMIA’s commitment to providing relevant, high quality education, qualifications and continuing professional development for RMIA members and to ensure academic excellence that meets member and community needs.

The Council is governed by a Terms of Reference and is currently comprised of:  

  • Sally Freeman (Partner & National Head of KPMG’s Risk Advisory Services)  
     
  • Ken Gaunt (General Manager Risk & Insurance, Toll Holdings)  
     
  • Christopher Davies, CPA (Former Head of Insurance & Risk, Australia Post, Currently Principal Consultant Christopher Davies & Associates)  
     
  • Jean Cross, BSc Physics (Manchester), PhD Physics (London), F I E Aust, MAIRM (Former Professor of Risk Management, UNSW)  
     
  • Clim Pacheco (Head of Education at ANZIIF)  

The Council provides sound a balance and blend of:

  • risk management experience
  • knowledge of what is required to be a successful manager of risk
  • knowledge of what employers are looking for in risk management capability
  • skills in developing programs that will reflect best practice in education and professional development.

The Council will be supported in their initiatives by Work Groups appointed to perform research and to provide detailed analysis and plans for the implementation of the Council’s initiatives.  These Work Groups include:

  • Academic & Post Nominal Work Group
    Responsible for CPRM, CRMT, Associates & Fellows and Post-Nominal linkages to membership.
     
  • Education Pathways Work Group
    Responsible for the development of education pathways through diplomas, graduate and masters course for risk managers and the accreditation of existing relevant courses.
     
  • Professional Development Work Group
    Responsible for the development of the annual RMIA Conference Technical Program, Short Courses, Seminar and Workshops to be marketed by RMIA.
     
  • Mentoring Work Group
    Responsible for the development and implementation of mentoring programs for risk management students and professionals.

Please note that roles on these Work Groups are honorary and you will be required to sign a Confidentiality & Intellectual Property Agreement.  Expressions of interest will close on 29 April 2011.
