Our topic for this webinar is Operational Risk to Resiliency and business continuity. Recent pandemic caught many companies off-guard. Companies were not fully prepared with their scenario planning.
About the Speaker
Radha Karnik - Director & Senior Risk Manager, APAC Operations at BNY Mellon, based in Singapore.
Radha joined BNY Mellon London in 2006 and was responsible for underwriting and monitoring direct credit (committed and uncommitted) for a wide variety of client types. She had written a thought leadership paper on “Basel II and Collateralistion of Credit Exposures” which was widely distributed amongst BNY Mellon clients.
She moved to Singapore in 2011 as Head of Operational Credit Risk supporting Treasury Services and Asset Servicing businesses. In 2015, she was appointed as the Line of Business Risk Manager for APAC Asset Servicing. Since the end of 2017, Radha has also taken up additional role as Singapore Country Risk Manager responsible for oversight of all risk disciplines (Operations, Line of Business, Credit, Market and Liquidity).
From mid 2018, Radha co-manages APAC Line of Business Operations Risk. Most recently, Radha acted as an interim (Feb to Aug 2019) Head of BNY Mellon India Operations Risk alongside her earlier responsibilities of APAC Operations Risk and Singapore Country Risk. In these roles, she is responsible for risk governance, embedding operational risk framework and independent oversight and challenge of day to day risk management activities.
Radha is active in Diversity and Inclusion Council of BNY Mellon Singapore; and was the Co-Chair of BNY Mellon Singapore’s Women’s Initiative Network (“WIN”) in 2014. Currently, she is WIN Singapore’s main liaison person for our relationship with the Financial Women’s Association (“FWA”). She also speaks at regional industry wide risk seminars and conferences.
Radha holds a Bachelor in Commerce and MBA from University of Mumbai, India and a Masters in Finance from Cranfield School of Management, England.
Alpa Parekh - Inaugural RMIA SEA Chapter President and Director, Risk Advisory at Blue Connector, based in Singapore.
Alpa has over 20 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, process improvement, change and project management. Alpa brings a breadth of sector experience from FinTech, Financial Services and Consulting.
Alpa enables companies to build and embed a risk management framework. She is passionate about risk management and believes companies can manage risks to build resilience.
She has implemented practical risk mitigation and governance processes in financial services firms ranging across retail, institutional and capital markets sectors. She has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cranfield University (UK), is a Certified Public Accountant (USA), Chartered Accountant (Australia & New Zealand), Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Banking and Credit Analyst (Corporate Finance Institute). She is currently pursuing The Certified Financial Crime Specialist Examination via ACFCS.
