About the NDIA

The purpose of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) which will support a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability. About the Position

As the Director, Integrated Assurance, you will assist the Branch Manager to provide advice to the Chief Risk Officer, Agency Board and Senior Executive on the efficacy of the National Disability Insurance Agency’s integrated assurance activities. You will work collaboratively with others to achieve the Agency’s objectives, and to develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

As part of the Branch leadership team, you will lead a high-performing team supporting the Agency and its partners to capture opportunities and prevent, detect and respond to threats in delivering the NDIS.

You will develop, implement and communicate the integrated assurance, corporate compliance management programs and provide strategic oversight of the efficacy of the Agency’s first-line control environment as a compliment to the Agency’s third-line internal audit.


As the Director, Integrated Assurance you will be responsible for a number of tasks, including:

• developing and maintaining the Agency’s approach to integrated assurance activities (as an element of the Enterprise Risk Management framework);
• developing, managing and implementing the Agency’s oversight of first-line (operational) assurance activities, in order to determine if the assurance activities are effectively supporting the reduction of potential exposure to the Agency;
• providing specialist advice to the CRO and Branch Manager, Enterprise Risk as to the efficacy of first-line assurance activities;
• developing and overseeing the delivery of ad-hoc specialist integrated assurance activities;
• Developing and implementing a comprehensive compliance management framework, ensuring all parts of the Agency are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
• Providing strategic and operational support, guidance and training in the implementation and maintenance of NDIA’s integrated assurance and compliance frameworks.
• Developing and maintaining specific documentation used to manage integrated assurance and compliance, including the Agency’s comprehensive assurance map.
• Maintaining oversight of each work area’s audit and compliance activities to assist in ensure a consistent approach to the management of risk across the Agency’s.
• Developing and guiding implementation of a comprehensive audit and compliance toolkit, to assist the Agency’s network to effectively manage
• Championing the development of initiatives to enhance integrated assurance and compliance, providing leadership across the organisation to ensure an ongoing commitment to a robust internal control environment.
• Managing the governance arrangements supporting integrated assurance and compliance, including the reporting to the Branch Manager and liaising with senior executives as appropriate.
• Providing leadership and management for the team by relating work activities to the Agency’s values, monitoring performance, providing timely and constructive feedback and facilitating staff development;
• Managing relevant elements of the Enterprise Risk plan and budget allocations to ensure that expenditure meets all appropriate governance standards and is kept within budget limits.
• Providing specialist advice to the Chief Risk Officer and Branch Manager, Enterprise Risk as to the efficacy of first-line audit and compliance activities.
• Reporting for the Executive, the Board’s Audit and Risk committees and Commonwealth, State and Territory Ministers on integrated assurance and compliance issues.
• Contributing to and reporting against the Agency’s Corporate and business plans.
The successful applicant should have a demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain productive working relationships with others and have a track record in working collaboratively with other agencies.
They will have a strong strategic focus and experience in working across the broad range of assurance and compliance activities. They will need to be able to adapt quickly to a changing environment, responding to and prioritising competing and often urgent requests.
