Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance

Reporting to the Manager Corporate Services, the Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) leads a small team responsible for developing, managing and implementing associated activities of the respective Archdiocesan GRC and Safe Communities Frameworks, and their related compliance and reporting requirements.

The Safe Communities Framework is an initiative of the Archdiocese of Hobart to protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse and neglect. The Manager GRC is also the Safe Communities Officer, with responsibility for promoting a shared culture of safety for children and vulnerable adults by establishing systems and processes that provide a safe environment and protect children and vulnerable adults from harm.

The Manager GRC works closely with key managers and staff across the organisation and champions an organisation-wide practice of continuous quality improvement and compliance.

The Archdiocese of Hobart is the central body of the Roman Catholic Church in Tasmania. The Church offers a diverse range of services to Tasmanians, which are delivered by a number of agencies comprised of Catholic organisations and organisations of Catholics.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Foster and promote a culture of continuous improvement across all services and operations
  • Coordinate the review and development of the organisation’s policies, procedures and work instructions
  • Establish and maintain systems to ensure compliance across all services with relevant legislation, regulations and with policy and procedure
  • Coordinate ongoing reporting, maintenance and development of the organisation’s risk management plan and related tools
  • Provide ongoing information, communications and training to ensure that staff develop knowledge, skills and competencies in continuous quality improvement, compliance and risk management
  • Build and maintain an effective network of relevant stakeholders

The successful candidate will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience working in a compliance/quality assurance type role, preferably within the NFP/community sector.
  • A thorough understanding of regulations, legislation and quality standards within the community sector, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
  • An understanding of the processes involved in auditing, monitoring and recording compliance and the ability to undertake compliance and quality assurance activities.
  • High-level time management and organisation skills.
  • Professional Governance/Risk Management membership and/or accreditation will be highly regarded
