Reporting to the Executive General Manager - Corporate Services, the Chief Risk Officer is the risk subject matter expert and manages the ongoing development and implementation of risk management strategies, systems and frameworks in accordance with organisational risk management and governance responsibilities.  This will involve working with the Managing Director, the Board, and the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee, as well as the broader executive and senior leadership groups. 

In order to be successful as Chief Risk Officer, you will have strong influencing and strategic relationship building skills and experience combined with a future focus, innovative approach, and the demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire teams. You will combine this with a delivery and operational effectiveness mindset and the highest standard of professional ethics, which will ensure Melbourne Water’s Managing Director and Board  have absolute confidence and assurance in the risk function.  

Your leadership experience in Chief Risk Officer, Head of Risk, or related senior risk, compliance and/or commercial roles will be highly regarded, as will your demonstrated capacity to communicate and engage with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups on the Three Lines of Defence, embedding risk uplift programs, and improving business approach to risk. Tertiary qualifications in a commercial, accounting or business function are desirable but not essential.
