Bow Tie Analysis Workshop

The Bow Tie principle to analyse and document risk has been traced back to the oil and gas industry as long ago as the 70’s. Since then, mining and pharmaceutical companies, amongst others have used the Bow Tie principle to explore and communicate risk. More recently, financial institutions have warmed to the idea, finally seeing the benefit of this simple, yet comprehensive method to understand and communicate risk.

This one day course covers the principles of Bow Tie analysis for understanding and documenting risk. Construction of the Bow Tie is covered in depth as well as its application in root cause analysis, incident management, risk assessment, stress testing and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) development. Participants will develop a number of Bow Ties during the course through app based simulations.

Thrive in uncertainty and social complexity

In this time of disruption and unpredictability organisations and managers must skilfully interact with the new risk environment.

Intelligently encouraging risk contributes to the sustainability of an organisation. It’s impossible to predict or eliminate risk events. Successful companies focus their attention on risk as an opportunity, seeking to better understand it from a psychological and cultural perspective.

The challenge is to create an organisational culture where failure is reframed as learning. To shift organisational thinking to support new ideas, develop resilient systems and teams, and add lasting value.

Standing still is not an option

To skilfully interact with the new paradigm of risk, interconnectivity and disruption by mastering topics such as risk psychology, unconscious bias and dynamic equilibrium is vital in today’s fast changing business environment.

Propel your learning and make decisions that are empowered, innovative and forward thinking in a VUCA world. Take that critical leadership step forward - redefine the role of risk and focus on growth.  Understand the Psychology of Risk.
