University of Sydney: Expressions of interest to assist emerging risk managers

Last semester RMIA was invited to assist Sydney University with helping undergraduate students to learn and appreciate more about risk management.  The students were studying International Risk as part of their Commerce degree.  RMIA has been invited to partake in this again this semester for both undergraduate and post graduate students

RMIA’s assistance entails two parts.  Part 1 is presenting to the students case studies on Risk Management in practice. This is a very informal presentation on how you use risk in your day-to-day job

Part 2 is judging the students presentations on Risk Management.  The students are separated into teams and given one of 3 companies that they need identify the organisations risk exposure. They are tasked with summarising their risk analysis and risk management recommendations on one poster, and will be given 5 minutes to ‘pitch’ their work to the panel.   I’m inviting a panel of risk professionals to assess the teams’ risk analysis approaches and risk management recommendations.  There is no preparation involved.  Each person on the panel will be provided a sheet on which to note their scores for each team

We are seeking members who may be interested in volunteering their time to participate for 2 hours on the following dates

11th October:
11:30am – 1:00pm Presentations on Risk Management in Practice
6:00pm -7:30pm Presentations on Risk Management in Practice*

25th October:
11:30am – 1:00pm Judging of Student Presentations on risk management
6:00pm -7:30pm Judging of Student Presentations on risk management*

* Please note you have the option to attend one or both sessions
