Identify, analyse, and manage risk in order for JCU to make well informed decisions to meet its strategic objectives.
We now have an exciting opportunity for a Risk and Compliance Officer, to work with the Chief of Staff in the University’s Chancellery. JCU is committed to creating a brighter future for life in the tropics world-wide through graduates and discoveries that make a difference.
The Chancellery consists of the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and President, Chair of Academic Board and office of the Chief of Staff (which incorporates University Secretariat, governance and executive policy, legal services, media and communications, corporate records, insurance, risk and internal audit).
The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University and leads the development of University strategy, as well as the pursuit of strategic goals and major new initiatives with the University community and its stakeholders.
Reporting to the University General Counsel, the Risk and Compliance Officer supports the Chief of Staff in promoting and developing staff capability in risk assessment and management and assists risk champions and staff with risk responsibilities within their Divisions.
We are looking for an experienced professional to deliver on the requirements of the University’s Compliance Framework and understand legislative obligations relevant to the Higher Education Sector and activities specific to JCU, including the coordination and implementation of compliance processes across all areas of the University, the development and management of the Compliance Register, and monitoring and review of Compliance Action Plans.
You will require a high level of analytical and problem solving skills together with the ability to articulate difficult concepts and present complex analysis with clarity as you will be working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Experienced in the monitoring and review of regulatory requirements for risk management and compliance activities within a complex organisation, you will use your broad knowledge and understanding of AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management and AS 3806-2006 Compliance Programs and its organisational implementation to succeed in this challenging role.
