About the Role 

Banyule City Council is seeking a Risk & Assurance Advisor to play a central role in shaping Council’s risk and assurance maturity, providing meaningful exposure to enterprise risk management, internal audit, and governance within local government.

You’ll work with senior stakeholders undertaking meaningful work and get to influence risk and assurance outcomes across a large and diverse organisation. Working closely with the Risk & Assurance Coordinator, you will help develop, implement and monitor Council’s enterprise risk framework, coordinate the Internal Audit Program, and support the effective operation of the Audit and Risk Committee.

As the Risk & Assurance Advisor, you will:

  • Support the development, implementation and ongoing review of Council’s enterprise risk management framework

  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on identifying, managing and monitoring organisational risk

  • Coordinate Council’s Internal Audit Program, working with internal stakeholders and external audit providers to deliver the annual audit plan

  • Track, monitor and report on audit findings and outstanding actions

  • Provide high‑quality administrative, coordination and secretariat support to the Audit and Risk Committee, including agenda preparation, minute‑taking and action tracking

  • Prepare clear, accurate reports for senior leadership, committees and Council

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, business continuity and strong assurance practices across the organisation

What You'll Bring/ What We Are Looking For

  • A relevant qualification in risk management, audit, assurance or business administration with relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience in municipal administration or a related field.

  • An understanding of Internal Audit and an Audit Committee environment.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to administer a complex program of delivery with multiple stakeholders.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to work with changing priorities in a changing environment within strict timeframes.

  • Initiative, independence, and ability to work in a team.

  • Demonstrated ability in managing multiple tasks and priority setting skills.

  • Experience in report writing to the Executive, Committee’s and Council is preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check

We Offer:

  • A permanent full time role with a monthly RDO.

  • Salary range $98,255.03- $106,820.88 per annum (dependent on experience), plus super.
