Certified Practising Risk Associate - (CPRA®)

The CPRA® certification is designed for early-career professionals risk professionals with approximately two to five years of practical risk management experience.

CPRA® certification recognises practitioners who have established a strong foundation in risk management principles and practice and are building capability across governance, leadership, decision-making, assurance and enterprise risk management activities.

CPRA® provides formal professional recognition and serves as a pathway towards CPRM certification as experience and organisational influence continue to develop.

Mandatory Supporting Documentation

1. Certification Application Form

Completed in full, including:

  • RMBoK domain assessment.

  • Applicant declarations.

  • Two referee attestations.

2. Detailed Current Resume / CV

Your resume must clearly demonstrate:

  • Current and previous risk management roles.

  • Responsibilities and achievements.

  • Governance and leadership experience.

3. Professional Summary/Cover Letter

Applicants must submit a cover letter addressing their experience across the RMIA Body of Knowledge domains.

The cover letter should include practical examples demonstrating:

  • Governance and reporting responsibilities.

  • Risk assessments and treatment activities.

  • Risk appetite and decision-making experience.

  • Leadership and stakeholder influence.

  • Risk frameworks, controls and assurance activities.

  • Measurable outcomes achieved.

4. Qualification and Certification Evidence

Copies of:

  • Academic qualifications.

  • Professional certifications.

  • Risk management education programs, including RMIA Education

  • Relevant professional development activities.

5. Referee Endorsements

Applicants must provide at least one referee who can verify:

  • Risk management experience.

  • Period of employment.

  • Leadership and governance responsibilities.

  • Practical application of the RMIA Body of Knowledge domains.

Failure to provide sufficient supporting evidence may result in:

  • Requests for additional information.

  • Delays in assessment.

  • Referral to an alternative certification level.

  • Deferral pending further evidence.
