Lycée Condorcet Sydney - Board Director & Chair - Audit & Risk Management Committee

Board Director & Chair - Audit & Risk Management Committee

Bring your audit, risk or governance expertise to one of Sydney's leading international schools.

Lycée Condorcet Sydney is Sydney's leading French international school, delivering a bilingual French-English education from preschool to secondary school to around 1,360 students from more than 40 nationalities. As part of the global network of French international schools, we are committed to academic excellence, cultural diversity and preparing globally minded future citizens.

We are seeking an experienced governance, risk and audit professional to join our Board and chair the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC). This volunteer position is ideal for a senior executive, board director, audit partner, risk leader or governance professional who is passionate about education and looking to contribute their expertise to a purpose-driven organisation. The successful candidate will help strengthen the School's governance framework, oversee enterprise risk management and compliance, and provide independent advice to the Board on matters of audit, risk and internal controls.

Volunteer position (unpaid)

Reasonable expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with Board policy.

The role

As ARMC Chair, you will guide the Committee's legislative and regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management and risk appetite, work health and safety, child safety and safeguarding, oversight of financial reporting and internal controls - reporting directly to the Board on matters of significance. As a Director, you will also contribute to the Board's broader strategic oversight of the School.

Directors are appointed for a two-year term (renewable). LCS's Board is highly engaged and hands-on; this is a substantive role that calls for genuine time, judgement and independence - not a ceremonial appointment.

What you'll bring

  • Senior-level experience across multiple disciplines, including risk management, governance, compliance, legal, audit and regulatory frameworks

  • Demonstrated enterprise risk management expertise, ideally including risk framework design and risk appetite setting

  • Financial literacy sufficient to interpret financial statements, budgets and audit reports at Board level

  • Prior board, audit committee, or risk committee experience is desirable but not essential

  • Current, or willingness to obtain, a Director Identification Number (DIN)

  • Current NSW Working With Children Check (Volunteer)

  • Ability to satisfy NESA and ACNC fit and proper person requirements, and conflict of interest obligations

Why join LCS

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to one of Australia's most respected international schools, working alongside a highly engaged Board and a newly appointed Principal and Business Director. The School is currently strengthening its governance framework to match its scale, and this role sits at the centre of that work.
