Unlock your potential as a risk management professional with the Mastering Risk Workshop Facilitation course, presented by Bryan Whitefield Consulting in partnership with RMIA.

This premier training program is designed to transform your facilitation skills and ensure that your risk management workshops achieve exceptional outcomes. This course covers advanced techniques for managing group dynamics, strategic workshop design, and the application of risk management frameworks. Participants will engage in practical exercises to handle real-world scenarios and receive expert feedback to enhance their facilitation effectiveness. Ideal for risk managers, facilitators, project managers, and compliance officers, this course equips you with the tools to lead impactful workshops and achieve successful risk management outcomes.

Key topics covered:

One: Preparation

Objectives
Establish the context, purpose and scope of the workshop.
Team
Understand the people, politics, culture and capability that will influence the conversation.
Facility
Optimise the workshop environment and work effectively within the constraints available.
Analysis
Use practical tools, techniques and AI to prepare for the workshop and generate insights that can improve the conversation.

Two: Facilitation

Framing
Introduce, confirm and clarify the purpose of the workshop so participants have a shared understanding of what a successful outcome looks like.
Conversations
Initiate, guide and close conversations that uncover meaningful insights.
Tipping Points
Recognise and navigate dominance, bias, silence, groupthink and other behaviours that can affect the quality of a workshop.
AI as a Facilitation Aid
Explore practical ways to use AI during workshop preparation and facilitation to challenge assumptions, generate different perspectives, identify gaps and stimulate deeper thinking, while keeping the facilitator firmly in control of the conversation.
Collation
Bring workshop insights together and identify the priorities, breadth and depth that matter.

Three: Post-Mortem

Objectives Check
Confirm whether the workshop delivered against its objectives and the organisation’s values and goals.
Reality Check
Test workshop outcomes against facts, available resources and whether the people responsible for acting on the outcomes are likely to agree with them.
AI-Assisted Reflection
Use AI to challenge conclusions, identify unanswered questions and introduce additional perspectives before insights are presented to decision-makers.

Four: Risk Assessment Techniques

Explore a range of risk assessment techniques that can help create better conversations about uncertainty and provide participants with structured ways to consider what could go wrong, what may have been missed and what needs further consideration before decisions are made.

Techniques include traditional brainstorming, bowtie analysis and an AI-specific risk assessment technique designed to explore the additional layers of complexity introduced by AI.
