Review of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap 2026
Call for submissions
The Productivity Commission is now undertaking its second independent review of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. The Agreement aims to overcome entrenched inequality so that the life outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are equal to those of all Australians.
The review will assess progress towards its commitments, identify approaches that are working and consider what can be done differently to accelerate meaningful change. To assist people and organisations in preparing submissions, the PC has published a call for submissions paper that outlines:
the scope and proposed focus of the review
the PC’s procedures and consultation approach
matters on which we are seeking evidence, information and practical examples
how to make a submission.
Visit the Closing the Gap Review 2026 webpage to read the call for submissions paper and terms of reference, subscribe for updates and make a submission.
Have your say! Initial submissions are due by Monday 26 October 2026. Evidence and perspectives can be provided in a range of formats, including written submissions, brief comments, oral storytelling, video narratives and art-based contributions with a written or oral story.
